Lines and Wrinkles

Lines and wrinkles form in the skin for a variety of different reasons. Each of these different causes requires a different treatment plan. At your initial consultation (which is free) a medical history and examination of your skin type will be done by Dr Tim Hurst. Following this assessment he will discuss with you the most appropriate treatment plan for your skin condition.

In General terms the following three treatments are used for Lines and Wrinkles:

Botox

Muscle contractions underneath the skin surface cause a concertina like formation of lines. This tends to be the main cause of lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyes, at the top of the nose and around the eyes. A series of tiny injections of Botox in these areas will help smooth out these lines.

Dermal Fillers

As the skin ages it gradually loses its natural elasticity as the collagen in the supporting tissue reduces leading to the skin becoming more folded and wrinkled. This tends to be the main cause of lines and wrinkles in the lower half of the face particularly around the mouth and nose. Dermal fillers such as Restylane and Perlane can be injected under the surface of the skin, so providing support for it and smoothing out the line or wrinkle.

Skin Peels

Fine lines over the entire face may be helped by having a skin peel. Amongst other benefits, some types of skin peels will lead to an increased production of collagen thereby helping to remove these fine lines.
